I CAN

When you feel like you can’t take another step,

Reach out to me, because I can

When your eyes fill with tears and you can’t see ahead

Take my arm, because I can

On the days when you’re down, and you can’t find your will

Just lean on me, because I can

And on nights when you’re scared, and can’t seem to move

Hold on to me, because I can

When you just want to vent but none care to hear

Yell out to me, because I can

Or you just want to talk, but none give their time,

Call out to me, because I can

When life gets too heavy and you can’t carry the load

I’ll help you through, because I can

Or when you get angry and you can’t get control

I’ll talk you down, because I can

When your heart breaks in sadness and you just can’t find hope

Cry out to me, because I can

And when your soul gets too weary and you can’t find your way

I’ll try to guide you, because I can

But if you see that I’m crying or I’m down for a while

When my own heart feels heavy and I can find my smile

When I choose to retreat in sadness or fear

Or you notice a difference, but the reasons not clear

Then just take a moment, perhaps this time it’s me

Who is trying to hide, so no one will see

I’m trying to be strong, for that’s who I am

So reach out to me, but only if you can
